Check these yourself in 10 minutes

• Tire tread: stick a quarter upside down into the tread. If you can see the top of Washington's head, it's time for new tires before the rain
• Wiper blades: if there's any streaking, chatter, or smearing on a dry windshield at low speed, replace them
